Contracts let for repairs to Thomson Centre
February 18, 2010
WHITEHORSE – Two local firms, Kobayashi and Zedda Architects, and Dorward Engineering, will partner with the Vancouver-based Stantech Architects and Engineering, on the renovation work to the Thomson Centre building on Hospital Road. The successful project bidders were announced today by Health and Social Services Minister Glenn Hart, and Yukon Hospital Corporation board chair, Craig Tuton.
The Thomson Center building, owned by the Yukon Hospital Corporation, will be leasing the space to the Yukon Government.
Tuton said that the bid by Stantech, in partnership with the two local companies, best met the goals of both government and hospital in getting the beds open quickly.
“The Yukon Hospital Corporation is very interested in making the best use of the facility” said Tuton. “Stantech are experts in this field and clearly understand what the needs are and how we need to move this project along. Partnering with two local firms gives them the local expertise.”
Work begins next week. It is estimated to be completed by the fall of 2010.
