The Pharmacy Department of W.G.H. promotes health and wellness and strives to provide caring and appropriate pharmaceutical services.

The department ensures safe, accurate, and cost effective methods of distribution in a positive and learning atmosphere with the needs of the Yukon residents and visitors in mind.

Department Overview:

The Pharmacy Department at the Whitehorse General Hospital is responsible for all drug utilization services, including distribution, clinical teaching, formulary management, purchasing, and storage.

The Pharmacy department provides medications to patient care areas using a computerized unit dose system. The Pharmacists provide medication information to patients and their families and to health care professionals.

Participation in multidisciplinary patient care teams to provide ongoing improvement in patient care is emphasized.

Specialties include Total Parental Nutrition (T.P.N.) chemotherapy, and Patient Controlled Analgesia (P.C.A.) pumps.
