As part of the Whitehorse General Hospital's holistic approach to healing and family centered care, Pastoral Care Providers complement the excellent care, treatment and services provided to patients and their families.
Pastoral Care Providers are endorsed by the Whitehorse General Hospital and represent a broad selection of religious faiths. Privacy, confidentiality and respect to people of all faiths are offered to patients and their families. Pastoral Care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Here are some of the ways the Pastoral Care Providers can assist you during your hospital stay:
- Spiritual counseling and comfort, including prayer and reading of sacred texts.
- A listening ear and sensitivity to your emotional and spiritual need and struggles.
- Spiritual and emotional comfort and support to you and your family as you face what are often traumatic and trying times.
- Practical help to you and your family is special circumstances you and your family may encounter during your stay in hospital.
Hospital Chapel
There is a multi-faith chapel located in the hospital atrium across from the Emergency Department. It is available for all people requiring a quiet place for prayer, meditation and/or spiritual comfort. In addition, arrangements may be made for memorials, prayers for the sick or other spiritual needs that may arise. The chapel is open at all times.
First Nation Healing Room
The healing room is a place for family members to gather to be with a patient, to pray and practice traditional ceremonies and private rituals. Please call 393-880 to make arrangements to use the room.
