Operating Room

Whitehorse General Hospital has two Operating Room theatres and our surgeons perform approximately 2,500 surgeries per year.

Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m

In addition to our General and Gynecological/Obstetrician surgeons, there are a number of visiting specialists who come to the Whitehorse General Hospital 2 to 5 times a year. The following surgical specialists in the following areas are available:

  • Ear Nose Throat
  • Orthopedics
  • Ophthalmology

Many of the local Dentist offices also use the Operating Room to provide some dental services requiring General Anesthesia.

Minor Procedure Room

After your operation, you may be taken to Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) or returned to the Surgical Day Care Unit (SDCU)  depending on your operation and type of Anaesthesia you have had. In the PACU, you will be monitored until you are ready to be transferred back to the Surgical Day Care Unit, or admitted to the Surgical or Paediatric Unit.

Within the Operating Room suite is a Minor Procedure room. Approximately 1,200 booked minor procedures are performed yearly by General Practitioners as well as Surgeons.
